Count The Kicks Calendar Competition
6500 babies are stillborn or die soon after birth throughout the UK each year
. . .that’s 17 families who suffer the devastating loss of their babies every day.
This fact is one that sadly rings all too true for my own family, that’s why I’m delighted but also very humbled to have been chosen as a charity partner photographer for the Count The Kicks calendar competition. Here’s a little more about this very special charity:
‘COUNT THE KICKS™ wants to empower Mums with knowledge and confidence during their pregnancy. We want to raise awareness of the risks surrounding later stages of pregnancy and also to teach Mums to take responsibility of their own health and care and that of their unborn babies. We want to ensure Mums work with their midwives and healthcare providers by being aware of the risks they could face during pregnancy and birth, and by being aware of their baby’s movements and development. We want to ensure every Mum has the confidence to call for advice if she is ever worried at all.’
Ok, so how can you help? ……….Be the BUMP of The Month!
‘We are producing a 2012 “Bump” Calendar to raise funds for COUNT THE KICKS™ We are looking for “Calendar Girl” style fun, imaginative shots that represent each month of the year, ideas we’ve had so far are using body painters and painting a Pumpkin design on a Bump for Halloween in October, or a Christmas pudding painted design in December, perhaps a big Sunflower for April or May. Alternatively you could model in an “Incey Wincey – teeny Weenie – Yellow Polka dot Bikini” holding a beach ball for July??! The more imaginative the idea the more we will love it!’ (Judges for the calendar include Emma Forbes & Denise Robertson!)
I am asking for mums-to-be to volunteer to enter into the calendar competition, you will receive a free photoshoot and a copy of your competition entry. There will be an opportunity to purchase further prints/products from your session should you wish to do so, with 20% of profits going directly to Count The Kicks. If you will be 26 to 40 weeks pregnant between now and September 2011, please get in touch to arrange your session. It really is for such an important cause, I’ve got loads of great ideas and it’s bound to be a bit of giggle too!
